Garden Designers Visit

So today, we hosted a group from the Bristol & Bath Society of Garden Designers here at Genus HQ to ‘meet the team’.

We find it makes a big difference to invite people here to see us, to see the glasshouse and chat through how we work and how we can help make their life a little easier.

It gives us a chance to chat informally with landscapers and designers and as potential new clients, answer all their questions and queries.

Pip explained how we take all the leg-work out of sourcing plants, saving designers tons of time, about the commercial pro’s and con’s of a P9 versus a 2ltr pot, about how we can source everything from bulbs to huge shrubs and trees, the difference between potted and bareroot trees and shrubs and how trees are generally sold standard, half standard or multi stem and by girth sizes, things that aren’t always taught at design school ! We highlighted that we have an online planting guide to help with ideas for planting plans and also emphasized that they shouldn’t be shy to ask questions when sending in a quote….(almost) no question is too silly!

We plied them with tea, coffee and biscuits and answered questions on bio-diversity, peat free suppliers, time scales from order to delivery, growing on to order, native hedging and when, inevitably with living things, there are failures.

We let them loose in our cash-and-carry area, so they could peruse and purchase our variety of shrubs, trees and perennials and we hope that they went on their merry way feeling confident in the knowledge that we are here to help…

If this is something you think you’d like to do with your Garden Design Group – then please don’t hesitate to contact us on enquires@genusplantsourcing.co.uk and we’ll arrange a date to meet you all!!
